5 Ways to Spend an Evening in Covent Garden

Covent Garden is packed full of theatres, galleries, and museums, which makes it the perfect London district to enjoy an evening out. However, with so much variety to choose from, it can be challenging to get the most out of one night. To help you narrow down the options, we discuss our top five picks below.

Enjoy a Show

Covent Garden is home to plenty of theatres including the Royal Opera House, Theatre Royal, Adelphi Theatre, Vaudeville Theatre, and the Cambridge Theatre. You will find an enormous variety of quality shows including the critically-acclaimed musical Matilda, which is still showing at the Cambridge Theatre and has recently been adapted into a movie by Netflix.

Wine and Dine

With so much variety on offer, it would be rude not to wine and dine at one of the many restaurants. If you’re a fan of unique establishments, consider paying a visit to Rules, which is one of the oldest restaurants in the UK. Standing for around 200 years, this restaurant is a huge hit with locals and celebrities, and it has even appeared in the TV show Downton Abbey.

Alternatively, if you are searching for something with a little more flavour, we recommend heading to Sarastro, which is a quirky restaurant serving up delicious Turkish cuisine. As well as this, it’s packed with former Theatreland props, which makes for an interesting evening.

Be Entertained at Comedy Carnival

If you’re enjoying Covent Garden on a Friday or Saturday, head over to the Seven Dials Club and lose yourself in laughter at the Comedy Carnival, which has hosted some of the largest names on the UK comedy circuit. To get you through the evening and soak up some of the drinks, you can choose from either Mexican/Peruvian food or pizza.

Soak Up Floral Court

If you make it out for the early evening, why not escape the hustle and bustle of London and relax at Floral Court? Nestled away in the middle of Petersham Nurseries, this courtyard comes to life when the sun is shining, and you can expect to find a restaurant, florist, cellar, and shop. If a delicious glass of wine, an Italian plate, and chilled-out vibes sound like you, don’t miss out on this little gem.

Visit the London Transport Museum

The London Transport Museum is located in Covent Garden and it’s one of the largest tourist attractions, which is why we’ve included it on this list. Although it closes at 6 PM, it’s not a bad location to kick off the evening – especially if you have children in tow. Taking you back through 200 years of London transport history, you will leave the museum with a full sense of gratitude for where we are today.

Covent Garden is the perfect place to spend an evening in London because there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes. Depending on your budget, why not combine some of the experiences above and make it a night you will never forget?
