Danny Gatton was born in Washington, D.C. in 1945. He began playing guitar at the age of nine and by the time he was in his teens, he had already mastered the instrument. He developed a unique style of playing that blended jazz, blues, rock, and country music, and soon began to gain recognition in the music world. He released several albums throughout his career, including “88 Elmira Street”, “Unfinished Business”, and “Cruisin’ Deuces”. He also toured extensively, playing at clubs and festivals around the world.

Gatton was known for his incredible technical skill and ability to improvise. He was also a master of the electric guitar, and he often incorporated the use of effects pedals into his performances. He was a highly sought-after session musician, and he worked with a variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Roy Buchanan, and Paul Simon.

Unfinished Business of a Music Legend

In October of 1994, Gatton tragically took his own life at the age of 49. He left behind a wealth of music that was never released, and in 1998, his friend and collaborator, producer Jon Paris, decided to compile and release an album of Gatton’s unreleased recordings.
