Grade 11 Maths Questions and Memo Paper 1 & 2 2017

The 2017 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Mathematics Examination Papers 1 & 2 and their respective memos, together with the Accounting Examination Papers 1 & 2 and their respective memos, have been released by the Department of Basic Education.

The mathematics paper 1 focused mainly on questions about numbers, algebra, geometry and measurement. It was divided into 7 sections and is worth 100 marks with 2.5 hours allocated for its completion. As for the paper 2, it focused mainly on questions about graphs, skills of problem solving, data handling, functions and trigonometry. It was also divided into 7 sections and is worth 100 marks with 2.5 hours allocated for its completion.

The marking allocation per each section was divided as follows:

Paper 1 consisted of the following:

• Section A – 16 marks

• Section B – 20 marks

• Section C – 12 marks

• Section D – 12 marks

• Section E – 12 marks

• Section F – 20 marks

• Section G – 8 marks

Paper 2 followed the same pattern and also included the following:

• Section A – 16 marks

• Section B – 20 marks

• Section C – 12 marks

• Section D – 12 marks

• Section E – 16 marks

• Section F – 20 marks

• Section G – 4 marks

The marking allocation for both papers was 11% for Section A, 22% for Section B, 12% for Section C, 12% for Section D, 12% for Section E, 20% for Section F and 6% for Section G.
